Co Monaghan Community Network Ltd

 
County Mongahan Community Network is a support network that seeks to help community groups help themselves by providing advice, assistance, and networking support, at all stages of development.
CMCN has over 60 affiliated members from Carrickmacross in South Monaghan to Clara in the North, and from Oram in the East to Connons in the West. We also have member groups in all the major towns and villages throughout the county.

Vision Statement

That Co. Monaghan will be a place where everyone feels part of a healthy, welcoming, inclusive community with employment for all and that respects the environment.

Mission Statement

To provide a forum for community groups in Co. Monaghan to promote community development and peace building, and to address common issues.

Aims and Objectives

Aim One:

To ensure the network can continue to meet the needs of members

Objectives:

* Generate income to sustain our network.
* Continue to listen to the needs of members.


Aim Two:

To develop an inclusive, peaceful society

Objectives:

* Promote cross-border understanding, relations and co-operation
* Promote cross-community understanding, relations and co-operation
* Provide a forum for dialogue about diversity
* Establish cross-community and cross-border partnership working
* Be a voice for minority groups
* Encourage cultural awareness and multi-cultural links
* Actively involve minority groups in the network and in the wider community



Aim Three:

To encourage everyone to be involved in their local community

Objectives:

* Raise awareness of their community’s needs and of the benefits of participating in groups, committees etc. among young people.
* Encourage young people to get involved in their local community group and its activities.
* Encourage older citizens to participate in their community and to contribute to their community.
* Promote and encourage volunteerism across the whole community.
* Encourage partnership working between individuals and groups across the community.

Aim Four:

To develop community capacity and encourage community development

Objectives:

* Provide advice, information, training and other support to continue to meet the needs of members and to enable them to solve common problems.
* Encourage and promote networking between community groups.
* Provide opportunities for community groups to network.
* Lobby for the simplification of funding application processes.
* Inform groups of funding opportunities.
* Motivate the community to improve self-sufficiency and to have greater awareness of and respect for the environment
* Promote entrepreneurship and self sufficiency across the community.
* Access educational opportunities to promote healthy and positive lifestyles.
* Encourage and promote life long learning for all.
* Promote training and education across the community.



Aim Five:

To lobby for significant infrastructural improvements

Objectives:

* Lobby local representatives on community issues.
* Lobby for the improvement of infrastructure, educational, health and other public services, and particularly for the return of full health services to Co. Monaghan.
* Lobby for an increase in community funding.


Networking

* Promotes networking among community groups and encourages groups to support each other.
* Supports new groups in disadvantaged communities to engage in community development and actively brings them to the attention of the relevant capacity building and funding agencies.
* Continually develops community leadership skills.
* Ensures local communities are represented and have a voice at a strategic level to influence policy.
* Regularly involve member groups in cross border networking events.
* Conferences & Workshops of relevance to members

* Diversity & Cultural Awareness Training
* Committee Skills Training
* IT Training : Subject to Funding and Interest
* Other training that may be sourced following a training needs analysis.

County Monaghan Community Network Structure
